Sponsored: Rock Creek Natural Area
What to know
Located within the Salem Plateau of the Arkansas Ozarks, the Rock Creek Natural Area contains one of the highest concentrations of rare plants in Arkansas. The natural area lies within the Harold E. Alexander Spring River Wildlife Management Area and specific types of hunting are allowed here.
Another feature of this natural area is the out-and-back hike along the Bubbling Springs Nature Trail. This 1.2-mile roundtrip, easy-to-moderate trail meanders through various habitats such as upland oak-hickory forest and several glades. The appropriately named Bubbling Springs is the main highlight found at the end of the trail. Download a trail map here.
