This town is in the southwest corner of the state around 2.5 hours from Little Rock. The area is known for tremendous geological diversity and is home to Crater of Diamonds State Park, the only diamond site in the nation open to the public. For a small fee, visitors can dig for diamonds and other gemstones at the park and keep what they find. Notable diamonds found here include the 40.23-carat Uncle Sam, the largest diamond ever unearthed in the U.S.; the 16.37-carat Amarillo Starlight; the 15.33-carat Star of Arkansas; and the 8.52-carat Esperanza.
Other attractions near town include Lake Greeson and Daisy State Park.
