What to know
Eat. Shop. Play. Live.
A National Register Historic District, Main
Street Batesville has nearly 50 places to shop, dine and unwind. Visitors can
enjoy activated public spaces like the Citizens Bank Pocket Park with outdoor
seating and games and Maxfield Park.
Main Street is home to the Batesville Area Arts Council, a non-profit organization providing access to the arts throughout the community through exhibitions, workshops and other art projects. The restored Melba Theater is the anchor of the downtown district. Originally constructed as a mercantile store, the art deco style theater reopened in 1940 as one of Arkansas’s first cinemascope theaters. Today, visitors can enjoy first-run movies, concerts and other special events.
The Royal on Main, a boutique hotel located in a transformed 1897 commercial building, brings luxury accommodations to Main St. Each suite includes a mixture of vintage historic characteristics with modern amenities. Other lodging options are available downtown and each brings the opportunity for a unique stay.
