What to know

The Beatles made one stop in Arkansas in 1964. That fateful trip is now celebrated in Walnut Ridge in a big way, starting at Beatles Park. Despite the name, Beatles Park is more of a district than a park. The focal point is a sculpture called “The British Invasion of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Highway,” featuring life-size silhouettes of the group with an Abbey Road backdrop. Along the street scene, you’ll also find hidden references to “The Fab Four.”

Other commemorative attractions are within walking distance. One essential stop is The Argenta Collection, a large exhibit with nearly 100 rare photos of the Beatles, housed in the Lawrence County Library. Another is Art Alley, a project from Make your MARC, showcasing evolving murals from local artists.

Beatles Park is also home to the annual Beatles at the Ridge Festival each September. These are just a few of the reasons USA Today placed Walnut Ridge on its list of the 10 best places for Beatles history.
